As an instructor or coach your job is to teach "How to Hit a Baseball"
Since every at bat starts by gripping the bat, it makes sense that it is the first thing to teach a kid. The more flexible a hitter is, the quicker the bat moves through the strike zone. Quicker bat speed means more time for pitch recognition and a quicker bat generates more power. GRIP2RIP youth batting gloves and adult batting gloves are perfect for developing the correct hitting technique for gripping the bat. Many instructors are hesitant about baseball hitting aids or softball hitting aids because they don't think they work. GRIP2RIP batting gloves GUARANTEE the correct grip every time. And kids love to use them because of the sound the magnets make when they click together.
GRIP2RIP batting gloves enable you to give a 60 second lesson and immediately improve a hitters ability for success. And by using GRIP2RIP batting gloves the hitter won't slip back into their bad habit. They hear the CLICK, and GRIP2RIP.
This is a quick lesson on a key hitting technique and you don't have to spend 30 minutes on a hitting drill to effectively teach it.
Step 1 Hitters Wrong Grip - Have your hitter grip the bat with their typical over rotated grip. With this grip, and the bat pointing up, have them extend their arms straight in front of them and try to touch the barrel of the bat to their left and then right shoulder. Note how close the barrel comes to their shoulders.
Step 2 Correct Grip - Have your hitter put on a pair of GRIP2RIP batting gloves. When the magnets click together, their door knocking knuckles on each hand are lined up. Now, have them put their arms straight in front of them and see how close they can get the barrel of the bat to their shoulder. It will be much closer than before, because the GRIP2RIP batting gloves teach and develop the flexible grip the top professional hitters use. Explain how flexibility increases bat speed and power and having the correct grip with increase their batting average. A flexible grip will result in a quicker swing for baseball and softball players.
Many instructors we have talked with have the same story about teaching the correct grip. "I'll work on a baseball hitting drill with a hitter and have them line up their door knocking knuckles while the bat is in front of them. By the time they bring their bat up to the starting postion, they have already rotated their hands to overgrip the bat." If a player is working on a hitting drill focusing on their back foot rotation and swing 100 times during the drill, they have just reinforced 100 times that feel. Now, if during those 100 swings they had the wrong grip, they also have reinforced the bad grip technique just as much as the good technique of back foot rotation. GRIP2RIP keeps players from reinforcing muscle memory for a bad grip.
